Interfuse 2024: Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

May 16th – May 19th, 2024

2024 Theme

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Step into a realm where the line between light and shadow blurs, and nature’s secrets come to life under the moon’s enchanting glow. We invite you to explore the duality of existence as you wander through a tapestry of benevolent blossoms and mysterious foliage. Engage in botanical rituals that explore the interplay of good and evil within the natural world, where thorns coexist with velvety softness, and vibrant colors mask hidden intentions.

From the industrious buzz of bees collecting nectar in the daytime to the nocturnal symphony of crickets and the mesmerizing dance of fireflies at night. Witness the graceful waltz of bees under the sun, their diligent work shaping the day, and as darkness falls, join the nocturnal revelry where dragonflies twirl in harmonious tandem, and butterflies don their glistening evening gowns. Marvel at the intricate world of bug life that unfolds beneath the moonlit canopy.

Join us at “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” where the nocturnal wonders of flora, fauna, and the unseen forces that shape them converge in a magical spectacle under the midnight sky. Embrace the mystery, celebrate the beauty, and explore the delicate equilibrium between the forces that govern our garden paradise.

Gate Hours are helpful to know

Thursday: 8-10

Friday: 8-10

Saturday: 9-5

Anyone showing up after the gate closes for the night may have to wait until the next morning when you can get a wrist band. In extreme situations, an EC has been known to meet participants at the gate after hours to process them in.

All Participants MUST have a Photo ID

Ticket Sales

We are using a new ticketing platform that requires every ticket holder to create a unique account on https://midwestburners.volunteeripate.com/.

Everyone will need to make their own unique account to attend the event. Unlike previous years, you cannot just show your ID at the gate to let in an individual whose ticket is under your name. Making a volunteeripate account is a part of our gate process this year, so everyone needs to make a unique account.

We highly suggest using the same email that you use for volunteer shifts as the direct presale links will be sent to those email addresses.

Ticket Prices will be 75$ each for general admission. Children under 12 are $1.

General sale pools people will have the opportunity to buy up to 3 tickets and transfers will be open until Saturday, May 11. Please remember that EACH attendee must have a unique volunteeripate account associated with a single, unique ticket to the event. The ONLY exception is minors who may be registered under their parent/guardian account who houses the ticket.

DMV: Art Cars

Art Cars! Art Cars! We love our art cars! Are you bringing an art car to Interfuse?  Applications are open!

Applications are due by May 8th!

Art cars have to be approved by the DMV before the burn so make sure you get that application in!

Once you get to the burn, come see us at the volunteer kitchen across from the showers to check in and get your DMV Permit!  All cars moving on site need to have their permit displayed!

Looking forward to all the crazy and fun creations for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil!

Cars and RVs

The vehicle camping pass request form is now live. All vehicles that will be parked within a Theme Camp or in Open Camping will require a Vehicle Camping Pass.

Our goal is to limit the number of vehicles within the burn. This improves our ability to respond to emergencies but also decreases default world intrusion, and generally makes a prettier landscape.  In addition, please make an effort to decommodify your vehicle to the best of your ability.

This form will remain open until ticket transfers close. Approvals will start to go out 30 days prior to the burn.

Tick born Disease Prevention

Understanding a little about tick behavior can give some clues on how to avoid being bitten. For example, one tried-and-true prevention measure is to avoid overhanging brush and tall grass. This is effective because of the way some ticks seek a host, which is called “questing.” A questing tick will perch itself, front legs extended, on the stems of grass, low brush or on the edges of leaves on the ground. Using this ambush strategy, the tick waits until a suitable host brushes against the vegetation.

Ticks do not jump, fall or fly and are generally found within three feet of the ground. Carbon dioxide, which is exhaled while breathing, as well as heat and movement serve as stimuli for tick questing behavior. Using an insect repellant that contains DEET on your skin protects you because it interferes with ticks’ ability to locate you. Another repellant called permethrin, which is used on clothing, actually kills ticks (as well as mosquitoes and chiggers). Permethrin products are designed to bind with fabric and persist through launderings when used according to label directions.

Once on a host, the tick seeks a place to attach and take a blood meal. Ticks attach on people in many places, but are most frequently found around the head, neck, underarms, and groin. Light-colored clothing helps you spot ticks more easily and tucking or even taping your pant legs into your socks helps slow them down in their quest for your skin. Prompt, careful inspection and removal of ticks is an important method of preventing disease.

If you find an attached tick, it should be removed promptly. The longer it is attached the greater the risk of infection. There are many “old wives tales” about how to remove a tick. However, to reduce the chance of disease transmission correctly using tweezers or commercial tick removal tools is preferred. The key to using tweezers correctly is to position the tips of tweezers around the area where the tick’s mouthparts enter the skin. Then use a slow, steady motion when pulling the tick a way from the skin. After removing the tick, disinfect the skin with soap and water, or other available disinfectants.
