A bunch of news
✴︎
Burning Down the River 2014 is over and it was a great success, a special thanks to the organizers, EC’s, gate workers and everyone else that made it happen! Also a ton of stuff has been going on with the website in case you haven’t noticed. The Contact Us page has been reformatted and new information added such as links to all our current Social Media pages. The old website had an Event Calendar but I have totally redone this feature and you can find it by clicking on Events from any page on the website. The new Event Calendar is coded in AJAX and jQuery for extremely fast load times, also this calendar has just about every option imaginable and will do so many new things for us.
Our 3 big events each year now have dedicated pages and can be found under the Events drop down from any page on the website. Each page now have a lot of extra information than before, as well as a dynamic Google Maps plugin that will show you where the event is and you can get directions to and from any event directly from the page itself without having to go to a separate page such as Map Quest or Google Maps from now on, you can view an example of this on the Burning Down the River page.
Also a Gallery (photo and video) is in the works for each page, using light-box which is awesome, trust me, you can view a sample of how this will work by looking at the InterFuse page, with other pages to follow soon. Also the Event Rules can now be found under the Events drop down as well.
The history of MWB is important to us and I have taken extra care when re-working this section, before on the old site it took a few pages to browse the entire history of MWB, I have created a dynamically loaded, dragable, timeline of our full history that displays amazingly and you can find the new History Timeline of MWB under the About drop down on the website. I am also striving to create a better overall experience for our community on our website itself, I have added functionality that allows you to register accounts on the website itself, and before this official announcement of it I am happy to say so far over 60 accounts have been created!
These accounts will play an important role in the future as it will be tied to registering for upcoming events in the future as I am doing away with the current system for one I am creating that will make it easier for everyone, to register for upcoming events you will need an account on the website, so I urge everyone to create an account on the website. I have also made the registration process extremely fast! These accounts will also allow you to comment on news posts on the website (such as this one for example) and to be active on our new Forums that will be going live soon for our community to be more active on the website more among various other things I have planned coming soon.
I have also implemented social media directly in to our news posts allowing 1 click share of our news posts and pages you can spot these share spots by the Facebook, Twitter and E-Mail buttons around the site. Also I promised a couple weeks ago that our site would soon be fully responsive across all devices such as phones, tablets, computers etc.. and this is now live! I have been a busy bee around the website striving to make it a better and more enjoyable experience for everyone than it was before, I hope you all enjoy everything I have done and continue to do! If anyone finds any bugs (eww) or has any ideas send them to me alex@midwestburners.com THANKS.
