✴︎
2024 Theme
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
Step into a realm where the line between light and shadow blurs, and nature’s secrets come to life under the moon’s enchanting glow. We invite you to explore the duality of existence as you wander through a tapestry of benevolent blossoms and mysterious foliage. Engage in botanical rituals that explore the interplay of good and evil within the natural world, where thorns coexist with velvety softness, and vibrant colors mask hidden intentions.
From the industrious buzz of bees collecting nectar in the daytime to the nocturnal symphony of crickets and the mesmerizing dance of fireflies at night. Witness the graceful waltz of bees under the sun, their diligent work shaping the day, and as darkness falls, join the nocturnal revelry where dragonflies twirl in harmonious tandem, and butterflies don their glistening evening gowns. Marvel at the intricate world of bug life that unfolds beneath the moonlit canopy.
Join us at “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil,” where the nocturnal wonders of flora, fauna, and the unseen forces that shape them converge in a magical spectacle under the midnight sky. Embrace the mystery, celebrate the beauty, and explore the delicate equilibrium between the forces that govern our garden paradise.
“That gives me an idea…”
Legally, we exist to create art. Our Art Grants serve this very vital function.
Please consider utilizing our Grants to bring all kinds of art to InterfuseArtists should keep the following guidelines in mind when applying for a grant and preparing a detailed budget for our consideration:
- Art grants are intended to fund NEW projects. Returning projects will only be considered for a grant if they are expanding on the original project by building a new piece for the event.
- Any projects funded by the event should be available to the community as a whole to experience.
- Art grants are intended to cover the cost of raw materials (i.e. wood, steel, paint, fabric, solenoids etc.). Art grants cannot be used to cover the cost of labor or to purchase tools and equipment that have a value or use outside of the art project. Items not allowable to be covered by art grants include generators, batteries, carports, drills, projectors, cameras, boats or vehicles.
- Art grants cannot be used to fund personal transportation for you and your team to the event. Funds may be used towards transportation costs required to bring large projects to the event.
- Art grants may fund art cars, but if your project is selected, the funds may only be used towards the cost of the materials used in developing the artistic portion of your project (i.e. the tentacles or wings). The funds cannot be used towards the purchase of the underlying vehicle.
- Art grant funds cannot be used to cover the cost of food or alcohol relating to any project.
- Applications for art grants from theme camps may be considered, but only if the proposal reflects an intention to create a project that has artistic merit (i.e. a sculpture related to the camp) and which will be for the benefit of the community. Art grants cannot be used to build or fund a theme camp itself (i.e. the cost of a dome), nor should they be used to create projects which the community at large cannot experience or enjoy. All funded art created by theme camps MUST be located in a public part of your camp and does not feel like private camp space.
- All information related to your project must be submitted in this form. If you need any assistance filling out the form, you may contact the IFART Team. QUESTIONS ONLY, DO NOT email any spreadsheets, photographs, ect.
- All projects granted over $300 must fill out a W9 form. No exceptions. If you do not wish to fill out a W9, do not request $300 or more.

We know went to Interfuse 2024, but we don’t know what to Interfuse yet
✴︎
What on earth should we do next year?
We asked for some suggestions, we got a few for you to pick from. Let us know how you plan on Burning in 2024. Then later in this InfoBot we’ll tell you When to plan on Burning in 2024. And lastly, an announcement about the cost of tickets.
Save the dates!
May 16th – May 19th, 2024
We know that being able to plan around events in advance goes a long way, so we’re glad to announce Interfuse will be hosted in the middle of May, at the same campground in Pulaski County Ft Wood Shrine in Waynesville, MO
Inflation? Nah, looking to hire medics
For years Interfuse has been one of the largest and most affordable burn opportunities in the country. A fact we have prided ourselves on, as it has made the culture accessible to as many as possible. Unfortunately we have reached a point where it is prudent to examine what we’re charging in admission against our responsibilities to the safety of our participants.
So we announce we will be raising our ticket price to 75$ per general admission.
As alluded to in the header, a contributing factor to the decision came from the suggestion that the event hire and staff professional medic staff to be on call rather than rely entirely upon our InterRanger volunteers.
Additionally, this will bring our event more in line with comparable events of our size and allow us to fund more artists and project grants.
Please don’t come at us with pitchforks and torches.
We’re a non-profit, not the tax man. Remain posted as we are also looking into expanding our presale opportunities for volunteers to maybe include discounted tickets as well. We haven’t ironed out the details, but it’s something we would like to pursue.
Lastly, we just want to thank you all for being a part of this community with us. For anyone who would like to become more involved with with the planning of our events, or more involved with leadership in general please reach out to any of the ECs.

Interfuse 2024 – New Burn Season, Who Dis?
✴︎
What on earth should we do next year?
Interfuse has prided itself on being a community first and from the bottom-up organization. To that end, we look to the great dusty masses of our Burner families and ask, “So what do we do NOW?”
We ask you, the artists, the lovers, our prank goblins, and creative personalities abound: what should the theme be for Interfuse 2024?
We will keep this open for some time, and once we have enough submissions, expect a poll to be published for YOU (yes, you specifically reader) to help decide.
Call for Leaders and heroics
Have you been burning for awhile now? Have you been volunteering for years and find yourself helping teach rookie burners the ropes for a department or how to practically apply our cultures principals and values at the event? Can you not sit by and watch someone do something the wrong way? Well then, you just might be perfect to join the ranks of our volunteer leads and co-leads. As an entirely volunteer based organization there is never a shortage of work to be shared among those of us willing (or foolish enough) to care. To this end, we would ask you to throw your name in this hat, or throw someone else’s name under this proverbial sado-masochistic hobby we call burning volunteer leadership if you think they’ll be a good fit.
Diversity / Inclusion / Accessibility
If you were to look up the 10 Principles of Burning Man, the first thing you would likely see reads as such:
Radical Inclusion
Anyone may be a part of Burning Man. We welcome and respect the stranger. No prerequisites exist for participation in our community.
While this stands as a true statement, it doesn’t mean that we should be content with a homogenous demographic to our participant population. As part of the Burning Man project, our mission is the share our culture with the rest of the world and attract the most diverse tapestry of folks to our events with open arms. We deal in experience – saving and curating what we bring Home to share with others in a decommodified trade of the immaterial.
But Burning is HARD. There are challenges abound. Ranging from needing experience and gear to camp out of doors for long periods of time, to having a body that is fit and able to attend an event without serious health complications or barriers due to a lack of access.
Therefore we want to start a new department with this goal in mind. This department is very undefined at this point in how it would operate. The challenges are unique and the work specifically may take the form of a lot of meetings ahead of and after the event. If you’re interested in helping InterFuse reach out to BIPOC, and engineer solutions to challenges that may limit our events accessibility for marginalized Burners; even those who don’t know they’re Burners yet.
