Gate Hours are helpful to know

    8-10 Thursday and Friday

    9-5 Saturday

Anyone showing up after the gate closes for the night may have to wait until the next morning when you can get a wrist band. In extreme situations, an EC has been known to meet participants at the gate after hours to process them in.

All Participants MUST have a Photo ID

    FIRE DANCERS

    • Bring a safety to this party! Have them ALSO sign up on the volunteer signup page to get 3 hours of volunteer credit (link below)
    • Consider bringing an offering of fuel to the communal fuel depot Saturday before the procession. If you have special fuel preferences beyond white gas be sure to bring your own well marked fuel and dip can.

    SAFETIES

    • Sign up on the volunteer signup page to get 3 hours of volunteer credit (link in comments). You may opt to do an additional hour with Perimeter for 4hrs total.
    • Convince your friends that being a safety is super cool and that they should do it too! Also…Thank you so much, this magic happens because you are willing to hold the line between light and darkness, chaos and order!!

    Safety meetings

    Friday @ 3pm-4pm

    Saturday @3pm-4pm

Location: Concession stand in the field (where the fuel depot usually is) or maybe somewhere smarter like in the tree shade at the edge of the field.

It will be mandatory for both performer and safety to attend ONE meeting to participate in the preburn ceremony! In these meetings we will briefly review safe fire practices, safety techniques, and check our fire tools to ensure they are safe, tight, and right. This is not intended to be a one-stop tool repair shop, so please maintenance your gear before the meeting.Fire breathers, I want to see the bottle you intend to be sippin on.

    Preburn Ceremony

show up @ fuel depot 8pm on Burn Night.

As far as the show flow goes, dancers fuel up at the fuel depot then line up at the entrance into the area surrounding the effigy, where lead will be clearing performers to enter the parade of clockwise cycling performers. If any groups want to choreograph please let leads know beforehand so we can include those kinds shenanigans.

Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime!

    Vroom Vrooom MUTANT VEHICLES!

Burns like Interfuse are known to attract creative souls with the ambitions to drastically modify a vehicle – turning them into functional pieces of art that can rove the event. These are the only vehicles allowed to operate during event hours outside volunteer staff carts or official vehicles.

Please let our volunteers know about your Mutant Vehicle in advance by filling out this form.

Beeb. Beeb. Beeb.*RV backing up noises*

So over the last few years, a number of burners have invested in recreational vehicles to improve their burn and camping experience. No judgement. However, there are some challenges with the land where Interfuse is hosted. You see, the open field is where most of the sites for parking an RV are located, but we happen to use that field to burn our effigy instead. Leaving scant few good spots for an RV to be placed. As iRonic puts it, “Hey RV people!! We can’t guarantee every RV that makes it on site will find a place to camp* (that could mean YOU). Prepare accordingly.” We will do everything we can to help facilitate your camp being together, but if we have to ask you to put some goliath RV in the parking lot, it’s not personal. It’s because you’ll be the one responsible for hiring a tow truck if you get stuck in the spring muds that are common.

Theme camp registration closes this Sunday!

There are only a few more days left to sign your camp up for placement. We’ll be cutting accepting new submissions this Sunday.

    PreBurn

If you wish to perform in the pre-burn ceremony you and your safety need to sign up here.

    • On Friday and Saturday we shall have a safety meeting and tool check for both performers and safeties at 3pm. Attendance at one of the meetings AND approval of fire equipment is required for participation in the fire ceremony.
    • Each performer must have a safety.
    • Safeties who attend BOTH a safety meeting AND ceremony will get 3 hours of volunteer credit. No volunteer credit for fire performers… just glory!
    • Safeties please bring a towel you don’t mind getting sooty.
    • Choreography is encouraged! If you plan to gift the audience with choreography please let us know at the 3pm safety meeting so we can arrange for timing and placement.

    FAST Flame effects

Our Fire Art Safety Team is tasked with making sure that flame effects and burnable art are safe for our participants to be around. Please take the time to fill out this short form to let our FAST team know about your engineering or art you plan to burn.

  • Burn Night Volunteer opportunities

    ✴︎

    ✴︎ ,

There are various ways to help on burn night. Here are the differences between some of these opportunities.

    Interfuse Sand Team

This team of 12 people stands inside the perimeter with their back to the effigy. They are the last line of safety for the effigy burn. Training will be provided. Will earn 3 hours of volunteer credit. More information can be found at the top of the sign up here

    Interfuse Effigy perimeter

These folks maintain the perimeter of the effigy field. They also stand with their backs to the fire and keep people from edging closer to get a better view. They also maintain the space for the conclave performers to dance around before the effigy is ignited. Will earn 3 hours of credit.

    2023 Lead: Hummingbird Co-lead: Nectar

    Conclave safeties

The number of safeties needed depends on how many performers there are. Must have one safety for each performer. They are positioned inside the perimeter with a wet towel they bring along and watch for any performance mishaps. They must attend a safety meeting which is being held at 3pm both Friday and Saturday afternoon. (Either offering, not both) This will earn them 3 hours of credit.

    Interfuse City Watch

This very special group is tasked with patrolling the city during the effigy to be sure no one is taking advantage of empty camps while everyone is at the burn. They work is coordination with the other safety teams. They will be provided access to golf carts and radios.

    2023 Lead: Amanda Schroeder

    Spark patrol

Smallest team of only 4 people. These folks will be stationed outside the crowd around the effigy field. A non-bunker/outer-perimeter patrol.

Volunteers will be equipped with compressed-air water extinguishers to work outside the perimeter and douse any embers or large chunks of burning wood which fly out into the city.

    Interfuse Medic volunteers 2023

Do you love helping others? Do you have basic first aid and CPR certification? If you meet those two requirements we would love to have you at the medic tent! Medic shifts will be 4 hours each, you will either be at the medic tent or out and about with a small backpack stocked with basic first aid needs. If you’ve volunteered as a medic before we welcome you back. If you’re new I will be reaching out to you to answer any questions. Some of the basic first aid we will provide at the medic tent include small wound cleansing and bandaging, providing salves for burns, ace wraps, electrolyte powder for those who are extremely dehydrated and support for any major medical problems. If at any time you feel concerned a medic lead or co-lead will always be available for you to ask questions!
