In the spirit of “Radical Self Expression” and “Participation” Interfuse and Midwest Burners are looking to encourage artistic and creative projects for Interfuse 2016 through funded art grants.
Your Art Leads are Lizzie, Stacey & Jeremy.
The event will be held May12-16th, 2016 at the Shriner’s Club Campground in Laquey, MO.
Participants must be 18 years of age to attend the event. Interfuse is open to all art forms and mediums as long as the piece does not leave MOOP (matter out of place) behind after the event ends.
Proposals deadline: Sunday, February 28th, 2016
Selection of grant recipients: Friday, March 4th, 2016
Installation of artwork completed by: Friday of the event by 4pm (this is so that attendees of the event will have time to enjoy the art. We do not want projects finishing up on burn night, etc.)
Grant Value: from $1-$500 Grants are intended to cover materials and transportation.
Funds are distributed within 30 days of execution of the project.
***We encourage the use of recycled, reclaimed, and/or repurposed materials as much as possible for your project. We also encourage you to include community volunteers on your project.
All proposals must be well composed & express the visual engagement with the audience.
Proposals will be evaluated by a selection board of 10 people who have been involved with the arts and from various regions. Submissions are evaluated based on the following:
1. Reflection of any of the “10 Principles” of Burning Man
2. Theme – How well the art piece(s) work with this year’s theme “Fort Frenzy”
3. Quality – including how it interacts, originality, creativity, inspiration, excitement
4. Execution – planning, feasibility, safety plan in if needed, clean-up plan, past work
